Who's at risk

There are many vulnerable groups to sexual abuse / violence but as an organization we shall mainly focus on two vulnerable groups that is; children & adolescents

Children

Any child is at risk of being sexual abused both boys and girls. Most children who've been sexual abused were abused by someone they know or are related to. This could be a family member, a friend or someone who has targeted them – like a teacher, care taker or sports coach.

Some children are more at risk of sexual abuse especially those with disabilities – in particular those who are unable to tell someone what's happening or don't understand that what's happening to them is abuse.

Some abusers target children who are isolated or being neglected by their parents or carers. If a family is going through a tough time, they might not be able to give their child enough attention or supervision hence putting them in unsafe situations.

Adolescents

Any young person who is at the stage of developing from being a child to an adult is considered to be an adolescent. He or she is also at a high risk of being sexually abused by people whom they know or are related to. This could be a family member, a friend or someone who has targeted them – like a teacher, care taker or sports coach.
